Academy of Philanthropy
The goal of Academy of Philanthropy (AOP) is to strengthen current and future generations of leadership in the field. Investment in the Academy of Philanthropy represents an investment in tomorrow’s leaders, the future vitality of the Muslim world and its neighbors. Currently, no other single entity has a comparable agenda to strengthen the human and institutional capacity of the Muslim philanthropic sector.
Objectives:
a) Identify and recruit knowledgeable resource people internationally to serve as the instructional team;
b) Develop a model curriculum and program implementation strategy that incorporates the latest research, theory and practice in the field, and satisfies the instructional needs of the program;
c) Pilot a series of seminars and workshops in the Middle East, Europe and the United States; and based upon assessment of the first three years of operation, create a long-term program design for Academy of Philanthropy.
Program Structure:
Participants in AOP’s training programs will be from two sub-sectors.
a) Foundations and grant-making institutions
b) Young Philanthropists
The training will be tailored to the specific needs of each sub-sector and offered in three tracks.
1. Foundations and giving programs will have an opportunity to send executive staff to an intensive one-week program on foundation management and leadership.
2. Foundations and giving programs will send board members to two-week programs focused on “foundation governance and strategic vision.”
3. Young philanthropists will be invited to join a three-week summer school to broaden their knowledge of global challenges and their impacts, deepen their understanding of best giving practices, and be inspired through interacting with the renowned leaders.
